A way to have deep conversations Online.... no , really
A way to have deep conversations Online.... no , really
It’s been a long time since I’ve met a friend for a cup of coffee, lunch or . . . a glass of wine. It’s a part of my life that’s been missing since COVID-19 came to stay. It’s not really about the beverage, what I’m really missing are the conversations between friends that have no beginning or end.
We are made to share our lives with others and conversation is a fundamental part of keeping our minds and spirits healthy in my opinion. Having someone who listens to your words with a caring spirit and zero judgment is a rare gift. I can count those people in my life on one hand. Actually, on a couple of fingers.
I’ve been working from home since March and have adjusted to the technical requirements, the daily routine of lunch on the patio, or the nearest fast-food drive-thru that’s edible. One thing I haven’t been able to completely adjust to is not seeing my team members on a daily basis. We aren’t “best friends” by any means but we work well together as a team and accomplish a great deal when we have each other to bounce ideas off each other. We share typical office banter, family struggles, and victories and the monthly birthday cake which none of us need.
Our staff uses technology to chat back and forth about daily work-related matters, but it’s not the same. I can no longer step in someone’s office with my morning coffee and simply chat for a few minutes. There are those rare people we can trust to not share our worst moments with others, to keep our secrets and simply listen. Those are the people I miss the most.
My purpose with “Coffee Talks” is to offer a place where you can come for a conversation with an online friend. It doesn’t matter what we talk about, it’s up to you. There are a couple of topics that will remain off the table. Politics and any type of hate speech is simply not what this is about. I will get my cup of coffee (depending on the time of day) and listen with an open mind and heart. Ready to offer my two cents if you ask for it, encourage you when needed, and try to fill a spot that’s missing in my daily life and possibly yours. You can remain anonymous if you prefer, the point is to simply provide a place where you feel comfortable having a conversation.
Let’s talk!
